Prize/Medals Received
- Received University Gold Medal of 1976, for being the best undergraduate of the whole University (BUET, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, ranked 1st university of Bangladesh with 170 million population) of that year.
- Received University Gold Medal of 1979, for being the best postgraduate of the University (BUET), obtained ‘A’ grades in all the subjects studied.
- Received Commonwealth Scholarship to study for a PhD degree in UK (1979-1982)
- The Royal Society, Inaugural Athena Runner-up prize, 2016 for inclusiveness and diversity. The Royal Society is the Premier Academy of Science of the UK.
- Received Biennial Optics and Photonics Prize in 2022 from the Institute of Physics. This award is given every alternate year by the Institute of Physics, UK. The institute started in 1874.
